Abstract
An analog spot position coding (SPC) retina for active obstacle detection dedicated to the future intelligent automobile is presented. This retina integrates the entire optoelectronic portion of the active obstacle detection system, from image acquisition to laser spot position coding, on a single silicon die. The image acquisition is done by using current-source connected photodiode array and the spot position coding by a new voltage-mode winner-take-all network which can be used in many other applications. A 64-pixel prototype circuit has been designed and fabricated in CMOS 3 μm process and some test results are discussed
