Abstract
On-load tap changing (OLTC) regulators are widely used to maintain a constant voltage. However, the typical response time of an OLTC varies from 100 ms to several seconds. The development of modern power devices allows implementation of new types of OLTC regulators with a faster response in order to correct other perturbances like flicker, noise and harmonic distortion. This paper presents a novel topology of a fast OLTC regulator, using soft-switching commutation techniques. Although the soft-switching commutation techniques have been widely explored in DC-DC and AC-DC converters, only a few works have been developed in AC-AC converters
