Abstract :
Improper illumination always causes a variety of image problems in practice. To improve image quality in an automatic manner, an adaptive Gamma correction method is proposed in this paper. Considering that the proposed Gamma correction method can also result in reducing image contrast, ordinal characteristics between pixels are exploited to improve image clarity. This makes Gamma correction method more suitable to illumination changes in real situations. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method has a good performance in improving image quality as well as correcting image illumination condition.
