Abstract :
Ad hoc networks are temporary networks with a dynamic topology without any established infrastructure or centralized administration. Each mobile node operates not only as a transceiver, but also as a router and forwards packets for other mobile nodes in the network that may not be within direct transmission range of each other. Jitter is a particularly important quantifier for time sensitive data such as real-time audio and video, since a large jitter can have a pronounced effect on the perceived quality. Average, maximum, minimum, and standard deviation of jitter metric are evaluated for four routing protocols - DSDV, AODV, DSR, and TORA - considering different node parameters like pause time, number of nodes and mobility.
