Abstract :
Most of the current spectrum sensing methods detect primary transmitters while in proactive spectrum sensing the goal is to avoid interfering with primary receivers. In a proactive spectrum sensing approach, cognitive radio (CR) detects whether a primary receiver (PR) is within the coverage or interference range of the CR. Recent studies on spectrum sensing for CR reveal that sensing based on single CR may not provide reliable information because of shadowing and fading. Hence in this paper we have developed a new collaborative spectrum sensing which multiple CR use active sensing and combine the received information to improve sensing performance. In proactive spectrum sensing by assuming closed-loop power control in the primary user system, the absence of the knowledge of primary receivers´ location may be compensated.
