  • Abstract
With the rapid growth of bandwidth requirement for mobile multimedia services, broadcast communication infrastructure is desired as one of the best solutions for avoiding communication congestion. Integrated communication and broadcast network (ICBN), consisting of broadcast network and communication network, is one of the solutions. However, in reliable multicast service over ICBN, feedbacks from receivers cause feedback implosion problem. Also, because the broadcast network resources are shared by all the users in a system, data retransmission through broadcast network decreases system throughput. To avoid feedback implosion and congestion of broadcast network, we propose a local repair mechanism for reliable multicast in ICBN, which assures complete data reception by recovering the missing data from neighbor terminals. The experimental results show that our proposal avoids feedback implosion and improves the system throughput.
