Abstract :
Summary form only given. Numerical simulations with full representation of Coulomb effects in space-charge dominated photoemission in vacuum microdiodes indicate the presence of a mechanism leading to the formation of well-defined electron bunches corresponding to THz frequency1. We present the results of survey that examines the effects of such parameters as gap-spacing, diode voltage and electron emission velocity on the structure of the beam, e.g. modulation frequency, debunching and current density.
