Abstract
The planning, design, and installation of a 138 kV extruded dielectric transmission system are discussed. Construction alternatives and project considerations are reviewed as well as cable selection, design, testing, and installation. Improved cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) transmission cables are increasingly being considered as an alternative to conventional cable systems at higher voltages. The steps required for the successful completion of such a transmission system are shown
