Abstract :
The results of accelerated water treeing tests conducted on two standard cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) and three tree-retardant XLPE compounds are presented. A correlation between miniature and full-size cable testing has been established, permitting the miniature cable evaluation technique to be used as an effective laboratory test for screening tree-retardant materials. An advantage of the miniature cable test is its lower testing cost and shorter test time
