Abstract :
Wireless network transmissions may be able to transmit data at a fast enough rate to support most applications but some applications have an issue with space available to hold constant updated information. These types of applications can not be given extra space to store data so a "cache mechanism" will be needed to control data stored locally. The simulation used will consist of a wireless hand held devices that will hold series of "business cards" which will be updated from a server. Two replacement policies of least recently used (LRU) and least frequently used (LFU) will be tested with two algorithms, poll-each-read and callback, to see the caching efficiency.
