Abstract :
Next Generation Network (NGN), featured by the merging of Wired network, Wireless network, Internet and Satellites network, is the development trend in future. Challenges brought by the existing protocol communication architecture which has the representative of TCP/IP stack are emerging in NGN. Among kinds of reply technologies, Cross-Layer Design is a new and effective one. However, the present Cross-Layer models do not perform well on cost and efficiency. In this paper, a novel cross-layer design model is proposed and a Layers Information Abstraction Profile (LIAP) model is introduced. This scheme is easily applied and extended and will play an important role in NGN. Also, some evaluation criteria to this scheme are proposed.
