Abstract
The authors describe a temperature-compensated L-band GaAs MMIC (monolithic microwave integrated circuit) successive detection logarithmic amplifier featuring ultra-low power consumption (700 mW). Log-linearity of +or-2.5 dB and a dynamic range of 60 dB were achieved over a 100 degrees C temperature range. The frequency range of the amplifier extends from 500 MHz to 1.2 GHz. This device shows no sacrifice of performance over larger, labor-intensive hybrid MIC approaches.<>
