Abstract
Supercapacitors are electrochemical energy storage devices that can find several applications in the power systems for telecommunications. The principle of these components is explained and their relative characteristics are described. Different applications are envisioned in the stationary and portable areas. Their use would allow the realization of more reliable uninterruptible power supplies and higher performance power sources for portable telecommunications
