Abstract :
• We described a stochastic optimization model that exploits increased navigation performance and integrates TFM strategies and avionics capabilities • We developed a prototype tool for testing TFM algorithms for SDO and conducting sensitivity studies • Demand levels and RNP equipage • Weather severity and weather uncertainty • Holding capacity in stochastic planning • Plan execution strategy • Results show that without improved navigation performance system delays may increase up to 5× with the expected 3× demand growth • Vast majority of these delays may be eliminated with improved RNP equipage and planning algorithms properly exploiting increased navigation performance
