Abstract :
Valve regulated lead acid batteries have been gaining acceptance in the telecommunication industry as an energy source for standby power applications. Compared to the flooded battery, they have the advantages of less maintenance and a smaller footprint. In this paper, the performance and characteristics of the AT&T VR Series Battery are presented. These batteries incorporate the patented positive grid design and the use of pure lead to provide long service life. Test results are given on capacity, self discharge, cycle life and float performance
