            Abstract : 
• Value of large surveillance range — Reducing total conflict detections and earlier detection • Allows conflict resolutions to account for more traffic, thus creating fewer new conflicts • Fewer trajectory changes in the airspace (stability) • More efficient routing (i.e. reduced fuel burn) due to fewer additional trajectory changes and more strategic resolutions • Impact of surveillance range — MOPS Class A3 minimum range (97 nm baseline) adequate for achieving nearly 100% strategic resolutions (i.e. trajectory-based resolutions) — Range <160 nm causes reduced detection time for conflicts with certain geometries • Impact of background interference — Similar effect to reducing surveillance range: more conflict detections, later detection time, more tactical resolutions — Effectiveness of CR to prevent new conflicts is compromised due to delayed reception of complete new trajectories from traffic — Effects were generally small even at high interference levels • Impact of increasing traffic density — Significantly more conflict detections and some more LOS´s — No significant impact on detection time or strategic vs. tactical resolutions
