Abstract
Working from specifications supplied by SIP, ITALTEL have designed and developed a new series of 48/60 V medium and high power power plant, that can be connected to a supervision and control network whose monitoring capabilities can be extended down to the level of a single rectifier. This infrastructure is arrived at by choosing a system architecture in which the connection between supervision network and control device of the power distribution system is achieved via a serial port to port link; this device is then connected to control devices on each rectifier via a multiport serial connection. The system architecture is described in this paper, along with the characteristics of the new power plant, with particular emphasis on the remote management capabilities, and the control devices that have made the implementation possible. Particular attention has been placed on the battery management, developing algorithms that include a test to allow local and remote control of functionality
