A new method for function categorizing in numerical substation control systems

Control, protection and monitoring systems in HV substations have been basically changed in recent years. Using digital based data processing and control systems along with digital communication networks; new methods for the design of control protection devices and new structures for substation control system are introduced. In this paper, the main structure, features and requirements of the new systems are presented. A new scheme for basic function categorizing of substation control and monitoring system will be introduced. Then this new concept for the combination of suitable control and monitoring functions will be discussed for a sample implementation.
