  • Abstract
A 3D finite element model was developed to convert the 50-Hz electric current perception threshold measured at the forearm into a perception current density. Calculations have shown that there is only a slight dependence of less than 3 percent of the perception current density on anatomical factors like the thickness of the subcutis and the forearm circumference respectively. Therefore, a perception current of 1 mA intensity can be converted into a perception current density of 850 μA/cm2
