Abstract :
This paper reviews the new NFC antenna integration into the 5-button trackpad for the metal-covered ultrabooks. The conventional NFC antenna of the notebook PC was embedded under the palm-rest because the material of the palm-rest of the notebook PC was ABS plastic which allowed NFC magnetic field to radiate through the palm-rest. However, the materials of the palm-rest of the latest ultrabooks were metals such as magnesium or aluminum which do not allow NFC magnetic field to radiate through the palm-rest cover. In order to resolve this issue, the NFC antenna was integrated into the called 5-button trackpad.
