Abstract :
This paper compares two possible subcarrier allocation methods for soft hand-over in OFDMA-based cellular systems. One method is to use the same subcarrier set between two cells. The other is to use different subcarrier sets between the two cells. It is shown that the different subcarrier scheme is always better than the same subcarrier scheme, which is expected. The difference is more prominent with contiguous subcarriers. Based on this, we propose a new subcarrier allocation strategy for soft hand-over. Simulation results supporting the observation are provided.
