Abstract :
Progress made toward the development of a viable aluminum-air battery system is presented. The general aluminum/air reaction is discussed. Results from aluminum anode and air cathode experiments are presented. Solids separation technology, a heat exchanger unit, and cell design are also discussed. The projected specific energy and power of the battery can provide electric vehicle driving ranges comparable to those of the internal combustion engine (250-400 mi)
