Abstract :
Doppler weather radar is a powerful tool to monitoring the severe weather system and improving the weather nowcasting precision. The CINRAD (China New Generation Weather Radar) network is building now in China mainland. In order to overcome the limited of the single Doppler weather radar observation coverage, the RADMOS (CINRAD Mosaic Software System) is developed. The architecture and the implement of the software system are introduced firstly. The modules of the system are discussed in detail. The fast Cressman interpolation is proposed for the sake of improving the software system performance. The temporal resolution of the mosaic data is about 6 minutes. Every 6 minutes, the RADMOS system can produced the fine 3D mosaic data with high spatial and temporal resolution covering the middle, east, and west partial region of China mainland. The system can run in real time that can meet the operational demand in the weather station. Cases on radar network 3D mosaic data produced by this software system shows that the network radar mosaic data is very useful for investigating the 3D structure of the severe weather system and improving the weather system nowcasting accuracy.
