Abstract :
In this paper, the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) spatial channel model for a multi input multi output (MIMO) system is adopted to simulate the time-selective fading environment. Due to fast fading caused by the movement of the mobile station (MS), the channel matrix for each multipath component is a function of time t and the instantaneous channel matrix is calculated on the basis of a more accurate calculation of the instantaneous angles-of-arrival (AoA) for each multipath, which are generated using a novel geometric method. The performance of the simulation is evaluated by comparison with measurements taken during the FLOWS project. And then, the comparison results are further analyzed by the correlation matrix distance (CMD) metric which can measure to what extent the channel statistics changes over time or frequency. The analysis shows that the simulation results are comparable to the real situation.
