Abstract
XML has become a standard for data description and exchange through Internet. There have appeared several methods to inquire about XML documents. In this paper, an optimized XQuery query scheme based on DTD is suggested. The scheme makes use of structure information in DTD corresponding to XML documents. In the scheme, the query pretreatment is carried out to obtain the possible path sets. In the course of doing so, the redundant nodes are filtered so that the quantity of linked nodes is reduced. Thus, the XQuery inquiry is optimized through this scheme effectively.
