Abstract :
The authors present a method for coupling TM (transverse magnetic) and TE (transverse electric) cavity resonances, located in adjacent physical cavities, by means of an iris. They apply it to TE/sub 11n/ and TM/sub 01m/ modes. The method can be used to realize novel coupling structures in dual-mode and triple-mode cavity filter design, generating desired symmetric and asymmetric filter responses. Experimental results obtained for a seven-pole filter are presented.<>
