Abstract :
Facing trends in industrial manufacturing adaptability of manufacturing systems increase its importance in design and application resulting in a claim for decentralized control and distributed intelligence. This type of control requires a new design methodology with respect to up to now used design approaches. Current control system description and specification technologies are only limited useable for distributed control systems design and methodologies reflecting distributed intelligence. Within this paper with GAIA-UML a description technology will be given fitting well to the description of distributed control systems and distributed intelligence, enabling a new way of control system design for distributed control systems based on enriching control system design pattern by application case related information, and, finally, enabling an automatic control code generation.
