Abstract
Rapid development of solid-state lighting has expanded the function of white Light Emitting Diode (LED) for wireless optical communication. In this paper, the analytical studies are carried out to analyze the performance of visible light communication (VLC) system in a modern lighting layout. Begins with the calculation of received power and indoor channel gain, the performance of data transmission is calculated. The modern lighting layout using 5 number of LED lights is applied to illuminate an office area with 5m × 5m × 2.2m (length × width × height). From the analytical results, the Signal to Noise Ratio(SNR) performance is proportional with the position and number of LED lights. The additional LED light at the center of the area makes the light uniformly distributed in the range of SNR from 56 (dB) to 51 (dB). The performance of this system proves that is applicable to be implemented in the modern lighting layout design.
