Abstract
This paper describes digital signal and image processing software for conventional weather radars. The software is developed to support the hail suppression system in Serbia. The system is built by connecting a specialized data acquisition and processing hardware on a standard PC motherboard. Three additional boards have been installed into the PC: A/D converter for radar signal digitalization, DSP board for real-time signal processing, and A/D, D/A and digital I/O general purpose board that controls the antenna. The architecture of the entire system as well as applied solutions for signal and image processing are presented. These includes real-time processing of the radar signal, real-time aspect of the meteorological products visualization method and synchronization protocol between different hardware components.
