In this paper, nutrients concentrations and storage of floor litter were measured at protective greenbelt in Karamay, China, in sites that contained 14 different combinations of planting configurations and species composition. The results show that the nutrients of the forest floor differ greatly among the configuration types. The nutrient contents (g·kg-1) of the forest floor ranged from 229.26 to 363.87 for organic C, 5.84 to 15.59 for N, 0.49 to 1.39 for P, 2.55 to 4.19 for K, 25.23 to 38.62 for Ca and 1.48 to 5.42 for Mg. According to the study, we suggest that the mode of the woodlands containing both trees and shrubs that are mixed by rows should be used in the construction of artificial protective forests, especially in windy, arid areas.
