Abstract :
In this paper, we address the problem of adaptive resource allocation for the uplink of an orthogonal frequency-division multiple-access (OFDMA) cellular system. In particular, we investigate means to enhance the call carrying capacity of an OFDMA system. To that end, we propose a number of practical resource allocation schemes where either channel usage or total interference level is used in assigning new frequency channels. The performance of the proposed resource allocation schemes are then assessed in terms of Erlang capacity for a call blocking probability of 0.02
