Abstract :
Multi-path routing has been studied thoroughly in wired networks. It has been shown that using multi-path in wired networks can balance the load and increase the throughput of the network. It is the common belief that the same is true in wireless networks. A novel analysis model has been proposed in this paper to calculate the load of wireless ad hoc networks that using multi-path routing. The result shows multi-path routing can balance the load only when the density of the nodes is very high and there are many paths. This is not the same as the previous existing results, so multi-path routing in wireless ad hoc networks is still an issue that needs more research.
