Abstract
In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), extending network lifetime while covering multiple targets in a given area is a challenging problem. In order to overcome this challenge, the authors address power management and sensor scheduling issues and propose an energy-efficient scheme for multiple target coverage (MTC) problems in WSNs. This scheme considers the transmitting power, overlapped targets, crossover operation as well which is evaluated through simulation and compared with other scheduling schemes. The simulation result shows that the proposed scheme can significantly increase the network lifetime.
