Abstract
This paper evaluates the performances of WCDMA (wideband code division multiple access) and HSDPA (high speed downlink packet access) when they coexist in different environments: HSDPA layout is adopted in macro cell and micro cell (Manhattan model) respectively, while WCDMA layout is always adopted in macro cell. We adopt a static system level simulation to analyze the changing of performances between WCDMA and HSDPA coexist in two different environments. The simulation results of the paper show that the system performances in the hybrid cells (macro cell for WCDMA and micro cell for HSDPA coexistence) is better than the single macro cell for WCDMA and HSDPA. So we can establish HSDPA base stations in micro cells, while use previous WCDMA base stations in macro cells that provide lower data service to optimize the wireless network.
