Abstract
In this paper, an improved scheme of channel estimation for ultrawideband (UWB) communication system is presented based on the theory of compressive sensing (CS). The key idea is to construct the sensing matrix adaptively using the information of the energy distribution of the received pilot signal in each frame and then use the method of distributed compressed sensing (DCS) to get the channel estimate. The orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) is then modified to improve the channel estimation performance. Computer simulation shows that the estimation error of our approach is reduced significantly at low levels of SNR as compared to an already existing CS channel estimation method for UWB systems, while the number of measurements remains the same.
