Abstract :
Proposes a novel control design to increase the torsional damping of a vehicle drive train, which consists of an engine, a transmission, joints, axles, and wheels. The key to this design is understanding the system characteristics and selecting the proper feedback signals. The difference between transmission output speed and vehicle speed is chosen as the feedback. A lead network is used as the compensator. Complex synthesis is not needed. With an extra compensator, transmission speed can be used as the sole feedback
