Abstract
Presents the software engineering design and implementation of a practical approach to debugging complex algorithms, described in C, on loosely coupled parallel processors. The new software tool, Dbdx-LPP, addresses the limitations in current traditional debuggers for these processors. This research has been implemented on the ARMSTRONG parallel processor system at Brown University. The approach is dynamic in that it permits a user to set breakpoints prior to and during execution, examine/modify any program variable and structure either during execution or when the program encounters a recoverable error. The Dbdx-LPP system has successfully aided in the debugging of several asynchronous distributed programs at Brown University
