Abstract
Congestion control mechanism should be applied in the transport protocols for real-time multimedia streams in order to ensure the friendliness to TCP streams when competing for the bottleneck bandwidth. In this paper, we discuss a rate-based TCP-friendly congestion control mechanism - TFRC, studying its basic structure and some key details. In order to improve the performance of low jitter for real-time application, we provide a new algorithm of TFRC by using the jitter as a warning congestion signal and at last simulation on NS verified the new algorithm.
