Abstract :
In mobile ad hoc networks, since all nodes are mobile and there is no fixed infrastructure, the design of routing protocols becomes one of the most challenging issues. Due to the utilization of location information, geographic ad hoc routing present superiority in scalability compared with traditional topology-based routing in mobile ad hoc networks. In this paper a location-based routing protocol LBRP (Location-Based Routing Protocol) for ad hoc networks based on location system is introduced. The aim is extracting an optimum topology from the dynamic and irregular topology of a mobile ad hoc network to reach more quickly the destination applying for routing. The scheme operates in a loop free manner. The Network Simulator tool is used to analyze the performances of the protocol and compare its results to DSR (Dynamic Source Routing), DREAM (Distance Routing Effect Algorithm for Mobility). Also, investigate LBRP´s performance taking into account and characteristics. Simulation results revealed that LBRP becomes more efficient when the topology changes rapidly reaching robustness and flooding minimization.
