Abstract :
There is growing interest in applications using video information, as for example real-time full-motion video or VoD systems. Many modern applications use MPEG standard for video signal coding. Nowadays, the standard becomes the most frequently used compression method for storing (DVD, CD-video, etc.) and transmitting multimedia data. We present characterization of high quality MPEG-2 video, stored on DVD disc. We examine both statistical (measures of location and measures of variation) and dynamic properties of the video traffic stream. For the analysis and comparison among MPEG-2 and MPEG-1 video coding sequences, several MPEG video streams are used
