  • Abstract
In this paper we propose a novel state-full bandwidth allocation (SBA) for high-fan-out optical networks. High-fan-out networks service a large number of users. SBA maintains state of prior allocations and intelligently increases or decreases allocation at run time. SBA is tested for video gaming traffic data that was captured from online and local video game play. Results show that SBA increases network efficiency significantly and therefore increases utilization. Comparison with existing bandwidth allocation algorithms shows that for high-fanout situations SBA offers considerably lower latency. The concept of state-full allocation can be extended to many other applications such as high-fan-out networks that span smaller geographic areas.
