Abstract
The authors describe a project in which the capabilities of fast phasor measurements were applied to power system problems. They describe the phasor measurement units and the central host of the monitoring system, the expected kinds of power system dynamics that are sensed and recorded, the anticipated triggering problems, and an analysis of initial siting considerations. In addition, the following applications of phasor measurement are discussed: disturbance monitoring, system protection and state estimation.<>
