Abstract :
This paper reviews the spur reduction techniques used in the sine output direct digital synthesizers (DDSs). In each method the spur reduction properties and trade-offs are investigated. The analysis is restricted only to phase and amplitude quantization errors. Three novel spur reduction methods in the DDS will be presented: modified Nicholas phase accumulator, a high-pass filtered amplitude dither and a tunable amplitude error feedback structure
