Abstract :
This paper describes the experience of the authors in numerical modeling of induction system with movable strips. Several numerical approaches have been applied to predict a ldquoquasirdquo steady-state thermal fields which naturally describes the temperature field in the strip when the induction heating applied. The approaches have been analyzed to prove their advantages and shortcomings to be applied for coupled electromagnetic and thermal numerical models of induction heating. The approaches are illustrated with examples of two concepts of the induction heating design which are widely utilized in in-line strip heating.
