Abstract :
This paper presents an asymptotical analysis of the MUSIC and Pencil-MUSIC methods proposed by Hua (1993) for estimating 2D angles and polarizations using crossed dipoles. The explicit first order perturbation expressions for the variances of the MUSIC and Pencil-MUSIC estimates are derived. These expressions are used to analyze and compare performances of the MUSIC and Pencil-MUSIC methods. A comparison of the angle-only Pencil-MUSIC method (Cheng and Hua, 1993) to the Pencil-MUSIC method is also presented. Simulation results agree well with theoretical results
