Abstract :
The use of liquid-liquid mixtures for heat and cool storage applications has been investigated. Analytical procedures were developed to estimate heats of mixing from liquid-liquid equilibrium data and were utilized to select potential mixtures. It was found that aqueous systems with lower critical solution temperatures could exhibit suitable effective heat capacities. Heats of mixing were measured for a number of potential mixtures, and the results of the analytical studies were generally confirmed. Experimental data were also obtained for additional binary and ternary systems, which are promising for further study
