Abstract :
Thermally induced errors have been significant factors affecting machine tool accuracy. In this paper, a novel deformation measurement method of machine tools based on optical fiber Bragg grating sensors for thermal error compensation has been illustrated, a deformation measurement system has been implemented. Strain data is gauged by multiple FBG sensors glued on the specified locations of the machine tool, and then transformed to deformation. Moreover, the displacement of the machine tool spindle is also gauged for evaluation.
