Abstract :
Summary form only given. The development of modern communication and computer systems imposes various requirements on the characteristics of electromagnetic waves radiated by or scattered from the objects to be designed. Currently, two general algorithms exists to solve this problem because of the different requirements imposed on the characteristics of the waves to be radiated or scattered. In this paper, a coating of the object by a thin layer of complicated shape and complex filling is proposed to control its radiation and scattering characteristics. From a mathematical viewpoint, the problem considered can be obviously reduced to solving the wave equations in appropriate regions and matching the solutions in different partial regions by the conjugation conditions. Besides, the additional conditions, such as radiation condition, edge condition, etc., should be satisfied. From a physical viewpoint, our purpose is to find out the material composition that enable the electromagnetic radiation and scattering characteristics to be controlled without changing the geometry of the object, but only changing the shape, thickness and electromagnetic properties of the coating
