            Abstract : 
A new configuration of a Ka-band active radiating element employing a combination of an evanescent mode resonator and a notch antenna is reported. The notch antenna (tapered fin line-flare) has been integrated with a two terminal device (Gunn-diode) to demonstrate a low cost, compact active antenna elements and is amenable for integration with other planar circuits due to its planar nature. The new active antenna has a very wide bandwidth and has the capacity to generate a symmetric main beam despite its plane geometry
