Abstract :
Classical methods for source and antenna synthesis are iterative, time consuming and not always adapted to the desired problem. In this paper we present a new method of electromagnetic source synthesis based on the time-reversal technique. This approach employs the Reversed-TLM method and permits the reconstruction of an unknown source distribution, from its electromagnetic far-field radiation pattern. We apply this method to find primary and induced radiating sources. Point-like source reconstruction results show that by using this method, the “classical” half-wavelength resolution limit is overcome. Monopole antenna synthesis results, in terms of orientation and localization of the current distributions along the antenna, are also presented.
